tv & film

It's fair to say that even though I'm best known for my work on the radio, I also crop up on TV quite a bit, too. As well as being the voice of The Brits, Top of the Pops and An Audience With, I've presented and appeared on lots of kids' TV channels such as Trouble, Nickelodeon and CBBC on XChange, The Saturday Show and Top of the Pops Saturday. There was also a well publicised rumour last year that I was going into the jungle on ITV1's I’m A Celebrity.

shamelessOn Galaxy Manchester's Wes @ Breakfast, I gave away an extra's part in the 4th season of Shameless and managed to blag my way onto the set himself. What I didn’t realise was that the scene was set in a gay bar and I had to look the part.

never mind the buzzcocksAnyone who’s been on Never Mind The Buzzcocks will tell you that it’s a ridiculously scary experience. I appeared on it in 2004 with Fatman Scoop and Gary Jules, trying desperately to keep my cool.

loveactuallyI am extremely proud of my role in Love Actually and manage to drop it into the conversation whenever the words ‘Hugh Grant’, ‘Love’ or ‘Actually’ are mentioned. I was asked to appear in the film by its writer/director Richard Curtis and recorded my lines in a post-production suite in Ladbroke Grove, London.

mattgossMatt Goss asked me if I’d do a cameo in his music video for I Need The Key, casting me as a "dirty milkman". In the end, Matt had to do a load of retakes as he’d keep cracking up when he saw me emerge with knickers round my neck and lip marks all over my face.

frog"Now this is just getting silly. A Crazy Frog ringtone is one, slightly annoying, thing. A record being made of said ringtone, and that single beating Coldplay to number one, is depressingly predictable. If you have more than one brain cell, take a deep breath, find your nearest underground bunker and sit and weep sadly for the future of humanity. This particular record is the brainchild of DJ Wes Butters. Remember that name for at some point he will be have to be hunted down and charged with crimes against music. This is as horrible as you may imagine. A nagging keyboard riff runs through the song while the frog jabbers away incessently. It'll probably be number one too, and then we'll know that the last days of civilization are upon us. After listening to this record, I feel that sandpapering my scrotum and then driving a rusty nail through it would have produced less painful effects." (John Murphy, Music OMH Review)
