Hope you managed to catch some of the breakfast shows that I've just done on BBC 6 Music? I can't tell you how much I loved doing them ... not only am I able to play music that I listen to at home (Sparks, New Musik, James Brown etc) but I got to muck about with some new characters, such as the world-renowned musical pundit - the Perculator of Pop - Paul Cappucino, and everyone's favourite mucca, our very own Macca. Plus, I was really touched that a couple of people on Facebook have started up campaigns to get me on 6 Music all the time ... Nice to know that someone other than my Gran was enjoying it then! Wes X

BBC Radio 4

Following the success of his two part documentary on Kenneth Williams for BBC Radio 4 earlier this year, Wes has won another commission to produce his next programme for the network. The project, which is based around a 'lost' script written by Kenneth Horne, will also see Wes making his presenting debut for the station. Keep checking back for transmission dates.

• BBC Radio Manchester Breakfast Show

  John Ryan, Managing Director BBC Radio Manchester, today announced that Wes will be guest presenting their breakfast show. John said: "I'm pleased to announce Wes Butters will be heard on BBC Radio Manchester on Tuesday 15 July when he joins Dianne Oxberry for a day when Eamonn is on leave. Wes was previously Sony winning Breakfast host on Galaxy Manchester. Previously he presented the Chart (and lots of other stuff) on BBC Radio One, and has also presented for the BBC World Service. He left Galaxy in April, has been writing the definitive Kenneth Williams biography (out in time for Christmas!), as well as making documentaries for Radio 4."

  Wes Butters' new documentary about Kenneth Williams, to coincide with the 20th anniversary of his death, airs on BBC Radio 4 on 8 & 15 April at 11:30am. This two-part special, narrated by Rob Brydon, was praised by the Commissioning Editor for Radio 4, Caroline Raphael, who said: "A fantastic absorbing and rather sad listen. Certainly the most honest and unsychophantic portrait of the man I've ever heard."
